An Act of Life

A short film written and directed by Vanessa Oakes

Filmmaker Dom Breadmore

A response to the search for a lasting memorial to the millions of people who died during WW1 - written for an ensemble cast of 21 young people from King Edward VI College, Nuneaton.

In An Act of Life the dead are present as part of the contemporary landscape. As generations move forward the meaning of traditional memorials inevitably changes. What doesn’t change is the presence of the living memorials all around us. The performing arts students in this film are all living memorials to the millions of young people who lost their lives.

Commissioned by Nuneaton & Bedworth Borough Council as part of the Fit for Heroes exhibition at Nuneaton Museum & Art Gallery -

funded by Nuneaton & Bedworth Borough Council, Museums, Libraries and Archives Council and The Big Lottery.

Thumbs Up for Schecter?

October 15th, 2008  |  Published in News

On the 13th October young people from Lillington Youth Centre, The BHK Project and Stratford College went to see Hoschef Schecter ( of Skins coregraphy fame) perform at Warwick Arts Centre …. I thought it was a fantastic night, I have never seen dance quite like it before and really recommend seeing this show… it is paticularly good for young people as it is familiar but strangely different and challenging at the same time

See below to see example of the “Skins” coreography ….

and now the real hard stuff at Sadlers Wells ….

I think the groups liked it … but I wonder what they really thought ???

If you went to see Hoschef post your commnet NOW!
