Creative Partners in Learning
A Professional Development for Creative Practitioners
Creative Partners in Learning: The background
Cre8us (formerly Creative Partnerships Coventry) exists to encourage creative and cultural organisations, businesses and individuals to form lasting partnerships with schools. Primary and secondary education in England is undergoing rapid change, central to which is the key government objective that schools should develop a creative approach to engaging with pupils in learning and work with external partners to build real life learning into the curriculum. Creative Partners in Learning is a development programme, devised by Cre8us in association with Arts+Media Training and School of Fish, that aims to support practitioners involved in creative learning projects in working in an inclusive manner with young people and the wider school community, and enable them to use creativity to solve problems which result in real improvements in pupil behaviour and school performance.
Creative Partners in Learning: The Programme
Cre8us are seeking 20 people with excellent creative skills, who are keen to develop their skills further to enable them to work collaboratively and effectively with school managers, teachers and pupils to bring about change in the aspirations and performance of young people and in the approach and attitudes of educators. This is a unique professional development programme comprising 7 sessions between January and April 2009 with an additional requirement of up 2 x ½ days practice in schools. It is anticipated that applicants may have already had experience of working in educational or community settings and will be able to demonstrate some level of creative project delivery. The types of skills which the programme will help practitioners to develop are much in demand, locally, regionally and nationally and would transfer well to other settings, for example regeneration initiatives and work in the community health and housing sectors.
