The next youth dance network meeting will be held at the Motionhouse Dance Studios, Leamington Spa, on Thursday 22nd October, from 4.00-6.00pm.

This meeting will have a focus on Dance and Health, led by experienced dance artist Kath Kimber-McTiffen. Kath will look at creative ways to deliver sessions on mental and physical health and well being, with young people. The meeting will also have some time to share information and notices of opportunities. It is also a great chance to meet fellow artists and teachers in the area!

This half-day course is for managers planning to oversee, fundraise for, and/or manage an Arts Award programme for young people.

Participants will become familiar with the framework and practical aspects of running the Arts Award, hear about the benefits of the Award and how it fits with other accredited courses, initiatives and agendas. There will be an opportunity to explore how the Arts Award may work in your particular setting.

The Arts Alliance is made up of arts organisations that work in the criminal justice sector, delivering arts programmes in prisons, probation settings, detention centres, and working with the Youth Offending Service. It is supported by the Ministry of Justice, Arts Council England and the Indigo Trust.

This event is aimed at those working in the Midlands. The aim is to promote the use of the arts in reducing re-offending, and to explore the role that the arts can play in the rehabilitation process. It will be a mixture of interactive workshops, presentations and discussions.

Workshops will be delivered by some of the finest exponents of arts based practice in criminal justice settings, including Geese Theatre Company, Rideout and representatives from the Writers in Prison Network. The event is free and lunch will be provided.

Based in Warwick, our Trident Centre is a skills-based training facility, offering courses in business, motorsport and engineering.

Trident is the only Centre of Vocational Excellence (CoVE) for General Engineering in the region and it provides a professional training environment that focuses on engineering technology and management. It has recently benefited from a £11 million investment programme.

Facilities include an advanced machining centre, robotic facilities, vehicle engineering workshops, laboratories, design suites and a Learning Resource Centre.

Warwickshire County Council County Arts Service has completed a six month action research project exploring the impact dance has on participants’ health and wellbeing.

This half day conference will be an opportunity to hear from health professionals, artists and commissioners about their role in the programme and the results of the independent evaluation.

There will be an opportunity to participate in workshop sessions covering the broad range of interest groups involved in the project including dance for young people, BME communities and adults with disabilities.
